Halloween: Painting with Light

Last night my church had a Halloween party, and I shot some snaps of the costumes.

Each background was custom "painted" by Adam Yates, thanks. Thanks to Lacy for running the printer. Fire in Pasadena

Last month, before all the fires hit Southern California, I ran into this fire just a few blocks from my house. I'm not really a news photographer anymore, but when stuff blows up right in front of me, I'll shoot it.

A high speed chase through Pasadena ended two blocks from our house, which created an impromtu LA county copper convention.

Oregon Trip

I had to dodge a few logging trucks on the highway to get these shots. In one photo you can see Mt. Hood in the distance. You guessed it, the last photo was shot from the HIGH way.

Fire along 395

Camping in Yosemite was great last week. We decided to drive the long way home, over Tioga Pass, and down 395 through Owens valley. Four hours into our trip home, I stopped to shoot this fire, we'd been seeing the interesting smoke clouds it made for a good 90 minutes reaching the fire.
Ten minutes after shooting these photos we reached the end of the road, the fire had burned across 395 and melted the asphalt, there was no alternate route, our choices were to drive through Las Vegas, NV, or back up 395, over the pass and through Yosemite.

Millenium Dome

Sailing into Canary Wharf in London we passed the Millenium Dome.

Anchor Chain

One of the anchor chains aboard the Anastasis, a ship I called home for 2 1/2 years. I believe we were in South Africa when I shot this.

These were great kids to work with.

Unexpected Arrival

While waiting for the 2007 Rose Parade to start we thought the first float must be pretty fantastic when people started standing and pointing. Soon after, this B2 bomber roared overhead. This stealth jet can carry 40,000 pounds of weapons, I'm glad it's in OUR airforce.

While loading up for a location scout I shot this photo of the front of our hotel. This is one of the times I actually had my camera ready when I saw something cool. There are far too many other photos like this that have only been captured in my head rather than with a camera.

Hawaii High Rises

I shot this while working on a two week shoot in Hawaii, not a bad place to work, however there is no good trout fishing in HI.

Griffith Observatory
